Minister Lee Jeong-sik: "Will Conduct Strict and Thorough Inspections"
Recently, the labor authorities have launched a large-scale inspection of Sunchang Sunjeong Livestock Cooperative in Jeonbuk, which has caused controversy due to assault and harassment of employees.
On the 22nd, the Ministry of Employment and Labor announced that it has formed a special labor inspection team of about 10 members at the Jeonju Regional Employment and Labor Office to investigate workplace harassment incidents that occurred at Sunjeong Livestock Cooperative.
In the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the restaurant at the time, Mr. A is seen saying something to a male employee and then suddenly taking off his shoes. He then hit the employee with his shoes and pushed him with his arm.

Earlier media reports revealed that the cooperative's chairman in his 60s took off his shoes he was wearing while inspecting the cooperative-operated restaurant, and assaulted employees in their 40s, verbally abusing them with threats such as "If you don't resign, I won't leave you alone," citing inadequate restaurant inspections as the reason.
As the incident quickly spread and became a social controversy, the Ministry of Employment and Labor formed a special labor inspection team for the cooperative.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor stated that it conducts inspections without exception on companies causing social controversies due to assault or workplace harassment, and plans to focus on checking violations of labor laws at Sunjeong Livestock Cooperative and punish any confirmed illegalities.
This measure marks the fourth special labor inspection this year, following Jangsu Nonghyup, The K-Tech, and Test Tech, which also caused social controversies due to workplace harassment.
