Dongwon Industries Holds 'Coastal Cleanup Day'... "Building a Sustainable Marine Ecosystem"
The Only Domestic Member of 'SeaBOS' Making Efforts to Reduce Marine Plastic Pollution
Dongwon Industries announced on the 22nd that it will conduct the 'International Coastal Cleanup Day' to preserve a sustainable marine ecosystem and clean up the local environment.
International Coastal Cleanup Day is an event planned to reduce marine plastic waste by the international conference body 'SeaBOS,' where global seafood companies discuss sustainable fisheries and marine ecosystems. Dongwon Industries, the only Korean corporate member of SeaBOS, has been conducting International Coastal Cleanup Day since 2021.
This International Coastal Cleanup Day will take place from 4 p.m. on the same day along Yangjaecheon near Dongwon Industries' headquarters in Seocho-gu, Seoul, and the Gamji Beach area in Yeongdo-gu, Busan. About 100 employees will form teams of four to collect various wastes and household trash from Yangjaecheon and the coastal areas. The types and amounts of trash collected on the day will be registered in real-time on an application used by SeaBOS member companies and managed as data.
SeaBOS member companies, including Dongwon Industries, plan to share the activities of International Coastal Cleanup Day and the results of marine plastic waste reduction at the SeaBOS annual meeting (2023 Busan Dialogue) to be held in Busan this October. Through International Coastal Cleanup Day conducted over the past two years, Dongwon Industries has collected approximately 1.5 tons of various wastes and household trash.
