Goheung Flower-Scented Pomegranate Ade, Launched
Gohung-gun Cultivated Pomegranate 'Kkothyang 1ho' Used as Raw Material
Available for Purchase at Convenience Stores, Benefits for Skin Beauty and Anti-Aging
Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Young-min) announced that, in collaboration with Seven Eleven and the Rural Development Administration, it will launch a convenience store beverage product called ‘Goheung Kkochhyang Pomegranate Ade,’ made from the Goheung-gun cultivated pomegranate variety Kkochhyang No.1, on September 20.
The beverage being introduced this time uses the pomegranate new variety ‘Kkochhyang No.1,’ registered by the Goheung-gun Agricultural Technology Center in 2015, as its raw material.
‘Kkochhyang No.1’ is an early-ripening variety with good growth, and the color of its flesh and peel is red, which is preferred by consumers. It has a high sugar content (17.1 Brix) and low acidity (4.24%).
Goheung-gun is the largest pomegranate production area in the country, with a production volume of 275 tons as of 2022, accounting for 70% of the national production. Pomegranates, known as the ‘fruit of women,’ contain a large amount of plant-based estrogen, which is beneficial for skin beauty and anti-aging.
‘Goheung Kkochhyang Pomegranate Ade’ can be purchased at Seven Eleven convenience stores, priced at 1,700 KRW (capacity 320 ml). To commemorate the launch, customers who purchase the product from September 20 to 30 will receive a free ice cup.
An official from the Agricultural Technology Center said, “We hope that the pomegranate beverage product launched in cooperation with Seven Eleven will receive a good response from consumers and greatly help expand sales channels and increase income for farmers.” He added, “We plan to continuously release various beverage products using domestic agricultural products through ongoing win-win cooperation among institutions, companies, and farms.”
