9 Injured in Roller Coaster Collision at Germany's Oktoberfest
At the world's largest beer festival, Germany's Oktoberfest, two roller coasters collided inside the event venue, injuring nine people.
According to German media Bild am Sonntag and others, at around 10:10 PM local time on the 16th, the "Jigokunbaegi" roller coaster train at the Oktoberfest venue in Munich's Theresienwiese failed to depart due to an engine malfunction, and the train following behind collided with it.
As a result of the accident, nine people were injured and received treatment at the medical facilities within the event venue.
"Jigokunbaegi" is the world's largest indoor roller coaster, reaching a maximum speed of 80 km/h. Passengers experience cliffs, lava, explosions, and fog while traveling an 860-meter course in 2 minutes and 30 seconds.
On the same day, the outdoor roller coaster "Olympic Gonggungjaebi," which features five inversions, stopped while in operation at the Oktoberfest venue, causing passengers to walk down from the train, creating a commotion.
