View original imageOn the 13th, the Ministry of Economy and Finance announced that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Choo Kyung-ho discussed ways to strengthen economic cooperation with 38 African countries.
On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister Choo held bilateral meetings and dinner talks with key finance ministers from African countries visiting Korea to attend the 7th Korea-Africa Economic Cooperation (KOAFEC) Ministerial Meeting at the Ananti Hilton Hotel in Busan.
During the meetings, Deputy Prime Minister Choo emphasized Korea's commitment to expanding support for the economic development of African countries through various policy measures aimed at supporting the economic growth of developing countries, and discussed plans to strengthen cooperation with each country in the future. In particular, he highlighted Korea's intention to host the 2030 Busan Expo as a way to give back the support Korea received from the international community in the past, and requested the support of African countries.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance reported that the ministers expressed their gratitude for Korea's economic assistance so far and expressed hope to share Korea's economic development experience. They also reportedly responded with expectations that economic cooperation would be strengthened in various fields where Korea has strengths, such as information and communication technology (ICT), energy, and agricultural development.

The meetings between Deputy Prime Minister Choo and the attending finance ministers will continue until the following morning. The attending finance vice ministers and other participants from African countries are scheduled to have meetings and dinner talks with First Vice Minister Kim Byung-hwan and Director General of International Economic Affairs Choi Ji-young.
