Gangseo-gu Operates Direct Market for Agricultural and Specialty Products for Chuseok
From 10 AM to 6 PM on the 14th and 15th, affordable local agricultural and specialty products from 13 sister regions will be supplied at the Magoknaru Station entrance plaza inside Seoul Botanic Park, contributing to urban-rural exchange.
"Purchase excellent local agricultural and specialty products produced in Gangseo-gu's sister cities at affordable prices."
Seoul's Gangseo-gu will operate a "Chuseok Agricultural and Specialty Products Direct Market" for two days, from the 14th to the 15th, at the Magoknaru Station Entrance Plaza inside Seoul Botanic Park.
Since 2000, the district has held direct markets for holidays, leading rural-urban exchanges and mutual cooperation with its sister cities.
Through the direct market, producers who have worked hard to cultivate their products get the opportunity to sell them, and residents can purchase high-quality local agricultural and specialty products at affordable prices in preparation for holiday meals, making the event very popular.
The lower prices compared to the market are possible by eliminating intermediate distribution processes, significantly easing residents' shopping burdens amid soaring prices of fruits and other products caused by summer heavy rains and heatwaves that have damaged farms.
This market features participation from 13 sister cities including Imsil-gun, Sangju-si, Taean-gun, Gangneung-si, Yeosu-si, and Haman-gun, selling top-quality regional agricultural, marine, livestock, and specialty products such as Korean beef, cheese, Hangwa (traditional Korean sweets), salted seafood, and various fruits.
The market opens at 10 a.m. and operates until 6 p.m.
In particular, the venue has been changed from the "front yard of the district office" to the more accessible "Seoul Botanic Park Entrance Plaza" in front of Exit 3 of Magoknaru Station, raising expectations for strong interest and response from residents.
