Lee Geun Caught Driving Without a License: "No Problem Since I Didn't Know"
Reveals Position Through Own YouTube Channel Notice
Drove on the 6th While License Was Canceled
Captain Lee Geun (39), a former Navy Special Warfare Unit (UDT/SEAL) officer and YouTuber who was sentenced to a suspended prison term for illegally entering war-torn Ukraine, has been booked for driving without a license, stating, "I didn’t know, so that’s why."
On the 9th, Lee posted a notice about a schedule change for a membership live stream on his YouTube channel 'ROKSEAL' community, and at the end of the post, he added a P.S. saying, "Oh, and... regarding the unlicensed driving, of course, I didn’t know, so that’s why. NO PROBLEM."
Since then, as of 7 p.m. on the 10th, the post has received over 680 comments. Netizens responded with comments such as, "I support you, brother, but not knowing the law does not exempt you from responsibility. It is absolutely not 'no problem'," and "Your license was canceled, yet you say you didn’t know when you drove... impressive."
Lee is accused of driving his vehicle without a license from his home in Maetan-dong, Yeongtong-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, to the Suwon Southern Police Station in Maetan-dong at around 6:10 p.m. on the 6th. He is currently under investigation for hit-and-run causing injury under the Special Act, after causing an accident with a motorcycle while driving in Seoul last July and leaving the scene without providing aid, which led to his license being canceled. Lee was reportedly caught driving without a license during a vehicle registration check when he visited the Suwon Southern Police Station for another case.
Previously, in March last year, Lee caused controversy by entering Ukraine, a travel-restricted area, without permission from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and joining as a volunteer fighter in the International Legion. At that time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported him for violating the Passport Act, stating that he entered Ukraine, where a Level 4 travel advisory (travel ban) was issued, without government approval. The court sentenced Lee last month to 1 year and 6 months in prison with a 3-year suspension, ordering 80 hours of community service and 40 hours of safe driving lectures.

Additionally, on March 20, Lee was sent to the prosecution on July 22 for allegedly hitting YouTuber Gujeokyeok (real name Lee Junhee) once in a hallway outside the courtroom after a dispute when Gujeokyeok came to attend Lee’s first trial for the Passport Act violation charge. The first trial related to this case is scheduled for the 11th.
