Learning Nuclear Power Generation On-Site... KHNP Saewool Headquarters Provides Specialized Equipment Training
For Local Government Officials Within the National Radiation Emergency Planning Zone
Saewool Nuclear Power Headquarters of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (Director Jo Seok-jin) conducted specialized training on nuclear power system equipment for local government officials and private environmental monitoring center staff within the nationwide radiation emergency planning zones from the 6th to the 8th.
The specialized training on nuclear power system equipment, implemented to enhance the understanding of nuclear power plants among local governments and related agencies responsible for nuclear disaster prevention and to strengthen radiation emergency response capabilities, was the first training of its kind conducted by Saewool Headquarters in response to local governments' requests for more systematic educational opportunities regarding nuclear power plants.
The training program included theoretical education on nuclear power plant system overview, radiation safety management, accident management, and radiation disaster prevention plans, as well as on-site facility tours. In particular, participants had the opportunity to enter the reactor building of Saewool Unit 3, which is currently under construction, and tour the site where the steam generator and reactor coolant pumps are installed.
Son Ae-ran, a public official from Ulsan Metropolitan City who attended the training, said, "This training, the first conducted by Saewool Nuclear Power Headquarters, was very helpful in understanding the equipment and systems of nuclear power plants."
