According to Suwon City on the 6th, an anonymous donor left 50 million won in cash and a letter at the Gwanggyo 2-dong Administrative Welfare Center in Suwon.
At around 9:30 a.m. that day, a middle-aged woman wearing a hat and sunglasses entered the administrative welfare center, silently placed a paper envelope on the civil service desk, and left.
Shortly after, a staff member opened the envelope and was surprised to find a large sum of cash inside. The staff initially thought someone had lost a large amount of money and considered reporting it to the police, but then found a handwritten letter inside the envelope.
The donor’s carefully written letter stated, "I saved 50 million won over several years by cutting back on living expenses and making installment savings," and expressed the hope that "it will be of some help to families struggling due to COVID-19."
The center staff went outside to look for the donor, but the donor had already left. They also checked the center’s CCTV, but since the donor did not come by car, they could not identify a license plate number.
Jung Sook-mi, head of the Gwanggyo 2-dong Administrative Civil Service Team, explained the situation at the time, saying, "Residents often leave snacks, so we thought it was something like that this time," and added, "We still have not been able to identify who the donor is."
