Ministry of Justice to Reflect Parole for Completion of Drug Offender Rehabilitation Programs
The Ministry of Justice has decided to reflect evaluations of inmates who have completed drug addiction rehabilitation programs in their parole reviews.
On the 6th, the Ministry of Justice announced measures to strengthen rehabilitation treatment for inmates addicted to narcotics. The plan is to incorporate objective evaluations developed by experts?such as the inmates' sense of efficacy in abstinence, readiness for change, and scales measuring depression, anxiety, and stress?into the parole review process for inmates who have completed addiction rehabilitation programs.
The Ministry of Justice stated, "We will strive to create a safer society by encouraging the will to abstain and reducing the likelihood of recidivism through the treatment and rehabilitation of inmates addicted to narcotics."

Parolees must receive addiction rehabilitation treatment at specialized institutions under the management and supervision of probation officers during the parole period. Failure to properly comply will result in the cancellation of parole. Previously, the Ministry of Justice established a 'Narcotics Offender Rehabilitation Team' dedicated to the effective treatment and rehabilitation of drug offenders and designated specialized correctional facilities, thereby expanding treatment and rehabilitation programs.
