Jeonbuk Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Seo Geo-seok) is striving to revitalize school sports through the establishment of field-oriented sports policies.
According to the Office of Education on the 4th, this year’s 10 major core tasks include 'Strengthening Culture, Arts, and Physical Education,' and a budget of 87 billion KRW was allocated to activate physical education, supporting physical education curriculum, school sports clubs, operation of nurturing sports, and sports facilities.

By significantly increasing the number of major events and competitions, opportunities for students to participate in various physical activities were expanded, contributing to improved health and fitness and creating a lively school atmosphere.
Accordingly, the number of major events and competitions increased by 11 compared to last year. Winter sports such as skiing and snowboarding were added to the existing summer sports-focused competitions, helping to discover outstanding athletes.
Competitions, which were mainly for student athletes and upper grades (elementary grades 4 to high school grade 3), were expanded to include lower grades (elementary grades 1 to 3) with events such as hiking, park golf, and Hangung, thereby increasing opportunities for students to engage in physical activities. The Jeonbuk Provincial Office of Education Superintendent’s Cup School Sports Club Competition will also be expanded from 16 to 18 events and held in September.
Support for safe and comfortable physical activities for students was also provided generously. This year, 31 school playgrounds, 77 small-scale sports facilities, and 8 training centers for nurturing sports were established. Efforts were made to ensure physical activities suited to students’ levels through support for sports instructors (elementary, middle, and Saturday) and training for physical education teachers.
While supporting activity expenses for school sports clubs, the registration rate for school sports clubs increased by 7.4 percentage points from 103.7% last year to 111.1%, and various public contest projects supported 423 schools in 5 fields to encourage students’ participation in physical activities.
In addition, the activation of school sports is being driven through various methods such as expanding budget support for the National Youth Sports Festival, improving treatment for school sports club leaders, and expanding the number of events held at the Jeonbuk Provincial Office of Education Superintendent’s Cup competitions.
