Catalina Jaramillo, a candidate running for a local council seat in Colombia, South America, is facing criticism after posting a video in which she lies on a bed making inappropriate remarks while appealing for support.
Colombian daily El Tiempo and radio station Blu Radio reported on the 1st (local time) that Catalina Jaramillo, a Green Alliance candidate running for the Antioquia Department Council election scheduled for October 29, filmed a video the previous day lying in bed asking for votes.
In the video, Jaramillo appears disheveled with the blanket pulled up to her chest and says, "I woke up happily last night feeling an orgasm with the full moon," then continues by asking viewers to vote for her.
In the middle of the video, a man who appears to be her partner lies in bed with Jaramillo and kisses parts of her body, creating a somewhat inappropriate and suggestive scene for a video intended for voters.
After the video was released on social media, local netizens criticized it as "inappropriate behavior for a council candidate," sparking controversy over the video. Some also accused it of being a form of "noise marketing" to gain recognition.
In an interview with Blu Radio, Jaramillo confirmed, "Yes, I did film the video," and explained, "I only sent it to people I trust, so I don't know how it was leaked."
She added, "I have no intention to elaborate on or deny my remarks in the video because I think the expression is very beautiful."
