Busan City Promotes 'Onnuri Gift Certificate Refund Event' at Major Fish Markets
Until the 14th at Jagalchi Modern Market and Shindonga Seafood Complex Market
Up to 30% refund in Onnuri gift certificates for domestic seafood products
"Buy our seafood and receive Onnuri gift certificates!"
Busan City is holding an Onnuri gift certificate refund event for seafood purchases at Jagalchi Modernized Market and Shindonga Seafood Wholesale Market until September 14.
The Onnuri gift certificate refund event is a promotion to boost seafood consumption by refunding up to 30% (maximum 20,000 KRW) of the purchase amount of domestic seafood in Onnuri gift certificates.
During the event period, customers who purchase seafood worth 34,000 KRW or more will receive a 10,000 KRW Onnuri gift certificate, and those who purchase 67,000 KRW or more will receive a 20,000 KRW Onnuri gift certificate.
After purchasing products at one of the approximately 310 domestic seafood stores within the event markets, customers can present the same-day purchase receipt at designated refund locations in each market to receive the refund in Onnuri gift certificates.
Eligible items for the refund include domestic seafood and processed foods made from domestic raw seafood such as salted seafood. However, items discounted by Zero Pay online gift certificates, government stockpiled seafood releases, general restaurants, and imported seafood are excluded.
This event follows the directive of President Yoon Suk-yeol, who visited Jagalchi Market in July and instructed that the traditional market seafood discount sales, previously applied only during special occasions like holidays, be applied year-round until the end of the year to revitalize seafood consumption. The city plans to operate the event first at these two locations until the 14th and then expand it to six markets in the city by the end of the year.
Kim Byung-gi, Director of the Marine and Fisheries Bureau, stated, "We ask for the active participation of citizens so that this seafood discount event can help fishermen and merchants who are struggling due to concerns over reduced seafood consumption caused by the discharge of contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan."
