Since the 29th, Pohang City has formed a secondary battery delegation led by Kwon Hyuk-won, Director of the Job Economy Bureau, to visit China, the world's largest battery market, introducing Pohang's capabilities and establishing a global network.
On the 30th, the Pohang City secondary battery delegation visited Alibaba headquarters to share strategies for fostering secondary batteries and next-generation advanced industries, and explained Pohang City's industrial environment and strengths.
View original imageDuring the visit, the Pohang secondary battery delegation participated in the Shanghai Battery Industry Expo, operating a solo booth to promote Pohang's industrial capabilities. They also visited global companies such as Zhuzhou National Development Zone, Alibaba, Tesla Gigafactory, and Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt to discuss strategic cooperation plans.
The Shanghai International Battery Industry Expo is an international exhibition with 35,000 visitors, where 100 secondary battery companies from China and around the world operate over 200 booths. The delegation participated in the '2023 Shanghai Battery Industry Expo,' operating a promotional pavilion for Pohang's secondary battery specialized complex, grasping trends in China's secondary battery industry and actively promoting the need to establish a global cooperation system with participating companies.
Additionally, Haedong ENG, located in the Yeongilman Industrial Complex, and Poen, a tenant company of the Secondary Battery Integrated Management Center, participated in the promotional pavilion and held meetings with Chinese companies, expanding their business activities overseas.
On the 29th, the delegation visited Zhuzhou National Development Zone, which is centered on the private sector and is creating a high-level R&D and technology cluster, to discuss mutual investment attraction cooperation plans. They also visited E-Land Industrial Park to learn about the know-how for successful entry into the Chinese market.
On the 30th, they visited Alibaba headquarters, which leads the global big tech industry beyond China, sharing strategies for fostering secondary battery and next-generation advanced industries and explaining Pohang City's industrial environment and strengths.
They then toured the Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory area, a world-renowned electric vehicle manufacturer, exploring ways to attract complete vehicle companies.
On the 31st, they visited the Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt Quzhou plant, which signed an investment agreement with the Blue Valley National Industrial Complex last May, held meetings with officials, and discussed cooperation plans.
The delegation toured the precursor and cathode material production lines and research institutes, shared cases from both countries in various fields such as industrial complex infrastructure support and regulatory improvements, and agreed to continuously build a cooperative system.
