40s Burglar Targeting Migrant Workers Arrested for Breaking into Vacant Homes
A burglar targeting foreign migrant workers was caught by the police.
On the 31st, the Gwangsan Police Station in Gwangju applied for an arrest warrant for Mr. A (in his 40s) on charges including habitual theft.
Mr. A is accused of breaking into houses seven times from June this year until recently in Wolgok-dong, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, an area densely populated by foreigners, stealing goods worth a total of approximately 15 million won.
He mainly robbed migrant workers' accommodations by breaking window locks with tools to gain entry.
It was found that many of the victims were undocumented immigrants who did not even report the incidents to the police.
