Seoul's Sangam-dong Incineration Plant Confirmed... Mapo-gu Expresses Regret
Mapo-gu (District Mayor Park Gang-su) stated on the 31st that its position has not changed even once since Seoul City announced the additional construction of an incineration plant on August 31 of last year, following Seoul City's confirmed announcement regarding the additional incineration plant construction.
Mapo-gu added that as an alternative to building an incineration plant, it has continuously proposed policies to Seoul City that can reduce incineration waste, such as installing ‘Incineration Zero Stores’ in each autonomous district, installing and operating pre-treatment facilities for household waste, and cracking down on mixed disposal of food waste and recyclable waste in general volume-based waste bags.
Despite the consistent opposition expressed by Mapo-gu and its residents, Mapo-gu expressed deep regret over Seoul City's final confirmation and notification of the new incineration plant site in Sangam-dong.
