Crown Haitai Confectionery announced on the 31st that it will hold the '2023 Hangang Sculpture Project' at Seoul Ttukseom Hangang Park for 45 days until October 15, in collaboration with the K-Sculpture Organizing Committee and the Seoul Hangang Project Headquarters.

This special exhibition is prepared to showcase the beauty of K-Sculpture not only to citizens but also to overseas art professionals. Following last year, the exhibition will be held again this year in conjunction with two of the world's top three art fairs: the UK's 'Frieze Seoul 2023' and '2023 KIAF'.

Now in its third year, the theme of the Hangang Sculpture Project is 'Walking Along the Hangang.' It features 109 large-scale works by 41 leading Korean sculptors (teams) including Jeon Young-il, Song Pil, Baek Jin-gi, and Lee Gil-lae. The large sculptures harmonize with the Hangang River, transforming Ttukseom Hangang Park itself into a massive installation art piece.

To allow visitors to experience the beauty of art in the great outdoors, the exhibition is divided into five sub-themes (Light, Sound, Wind, Waves, People), with about 20 works displayed under each. Considering the themes, materials, shapes, and sizes of the works, the exhibition includes pieces that capture or embody diverse forms of 'Light,' works that visualize or produce 'Sound,' sculptures that offer new sensory experiences through the tactile sense of 'Wind,' pieces that awaken the harmony of nature and the cycle of life like the 'Waves' of the Hangang, and works that evoke memories with 'People' and guide reflection and contemplation.

Most of the exhibited works were newly created to align with the exhibition theme 'Walking Along the Hangang.' Existing works were selected only if they fit the theme. Unlike typical exhibitions where usually one artist submits one piece, this time participating artists present 2 to 5 works simultaneously. Another distinctive feature is that the exhibition aims to be open-ended, encouraging visitors to feel and find their own answers rather than simply conveying the artist's intentions unilaterally.

Yoon Young-dal, Chairman of Crown Haitai Confectionery and Chairperson of the K-Sculpture Organizing Committee, said, "I am confident that the status of Korean sculpture has grown enough to be recognized in the global market," adding, "Just as various K-Cultures are loved worldwide, I expect many K-sculptors to gain attention on the world stage."
