'Construction Company Corporate Card Suspicion' Im Jong-seong Sent Without Detention Despite Bribery Charges
The Major Crimes Investigation Division of the National Police Agency announced on the 30th that it has sent Democratic Party lawmaker Lim Jong-seong (58), who is suspected of using a corporate card received from an executive of a local construction company, to the prosecution without detention.
Lawmaker Lim is accused of receiving bribes worth about 10 million won, including using a corporate card received from an executive A of a construction company in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, his electoral district, since November 2020 (charges of bribery and violation of the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act).
The police also referred Mr. A, who provided the corporate card and other valuables to lawmaker Lim, to the prosecution on charges of bribery and violation of the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act.
After conducting a search and seizure of lawmaker Lim's National Assembly office and his residence in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, in January, the police summoned Mr. A and secured a statement that he provided the corporate card to lawmaker Lim.

Lawmaker Lim reportedly denied most of the charges during the summons investigation on the 17th of last month.
