Proactive Response to the Policy of Abolishing and Reducing Local Subsidies
Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Woo Seung-hee) is taking proactive measures in response to the central government's austerity budget and the abolition and reduction of local subsidies.
According to the county on the 30th, on the 28th, just before the announcement of the 2024 government budget proposal, Yeongam-gun held the '2024 National and Provincial Subsidy and 2025 National Treasury Project Discovery Report Meeting.'

Following the '2024 National and Provincial Subsidy Proposal Project Report Meeting' held on the 4th, this report meeting was organized to comprehensively review the projects proposed to the central government and Jeollanam-do, discover future growth engine projects for the county, and secure systematic funding.
At the meeting, the focus was on the 2024 national and provincial subsidy projects, 2025 national treasury projects, and policy proposal projects.
Major projects include △ Establishment of an offshore wind power core component bench test center △ Regeneration of the aging Daebul Industrial Complex △ Installation of a biological resource conservation facility for the 'Namsaengi' at Wolchulsan Mountain △ Additional installation of mooring facilities for small fishing boats in Samho △ Renovation of the food culture in the Cheonhwangsa Eel Street △ Construction of a new modernized rice processing complex (RPC) facility △ Creation of an urban carbon storage urban forest, totaling 55 projects.
A county official stated, “We will closely review and respond to the central government and Jeollanam-do budget priorities and mid- to long-term growth strategies, promptly carry out preliminary procedures such as securing sites for various projects, and enhance the completeness of project plans to accelerate work promotion.”
In particular, he said, “We will continuously respond to central government ministries and Jeollanam-do in line with the budget schedule, and make every effort to secure national and provincial subsidy budgets by utilizing all human resources, including local members of the National Assembly and central government officials from the region.”
