50s Father Who Attempted Extreme Suicide After Killing Son and Daughter, Urgently Arrested
A man in his 50s who killed his two children and attempted to take his own life was urgently arrested.
According to the Gimhae Jungbu Police Station in Gyeongnam on the 29th, Mr. A is suspected of causing the deaths of 17-year-old Ms. B and 16-year-old Mr. C around 12:15 PM on the 28th in a mountain near Najon-ri, Saengnim-myeon, Gimhae City.
The police began a search after receiving a report from a teacher that Mr. A's children, who were supposed to return to school on Monday following a home field trip last week, did not show up at school. They tracked their mobile phone locations, among other methods.
They confirmed that Ms. B and Mr. C were found dead inside a 1-ton truck parked in the mountain that day, and Mr. A was found nearby in a self-harmed state and was urgently arrested.
Mr. A was transferred to a hospital for treatment and is currently reported to be in a stable condition without life-threatening injuries.
He is known to have confessed to the crime during police investigation.
It is reported that he gave his children drinks laced with sleeping pills, and when the children lost consciousness, he suffocated them to death.
The police plan to apply for an arrest warrant on charges of murder after investigating the exact motive behind the crime with Mr. A.
