Seongdong-gu (District Mayor Jung Won-oh) will provide fall prevention safety supplies to 100 low-income elderly living alone to ensure their safe daily lives.
In the case of elderly people, fall accidents often result in more severe injuries compared to younger individuals. Therefore, in an aging society like South Korea, preventing falls among the elderly is a crucial issue that must be emphasized. Seongdong-gu was selected for the Seoul City Accompanying the Vulnerable Public Project and is promoting this initiative.
The district selected a total of 100 households through applications and recommendations targeting elderly living alone aged 70 or older who are basic livelihood security recipients or belong to the near-poverty class. The safety supply needs of the selected elderly were identified, and a fall prevention safety supply package worth up to 425,000 KRW per person will be provided.
The safety supplies include a total of 23 items such as ▲ safety handrails ▲ bath chairs ▲ anti-slip mats ▲ adult walkers and canes, from which the selected elderly can choose their preferred items.
