Changwon Special City Strengthens Disaster Response... Uichang Fire Station New Building Opening Ceremony Held
Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, held the opening ceremony of the new Uichang Fire Station building on the 25th, which will greatly contribute to strengthening disaster response.
About 200 people attended the event, including Ha Jongmok, the 1st Deputy Mayor, Kim Igeun, Chairman of the Changwon Special City Council, provincial council members, city council members, and the Fire Headquarters chief.
The Uichang Fire Station, located at 119 Jungang-ro, Jung-dong, Uichang-gu, began construction in August 2021. It was completed in June this year with a total floor area of 4,995.65㎡, consisting of one basement floor and four above-ground floors, at a project cost of 15 billion KRW.
Until now, the Changwon Fire Station managed emergency dispatch and administrative duties for Uichang-gu and Seongsan-gu, but from January 13 last year, the Uichang Fire Station temporary office began full-scale operations to serve the citizens of Uichang-gu.
The new Uichang Fire Station houses 105 personnel engaged in dispatch and administrative work, and is equipped with 19 vehicles including fire pump trucks, water tank trucks, aerial ladder trucks, high-performance chemical trucks, rescue vehicles, and ambulances.
Additionally, the facility includes offices, garages, a mental health stabilization room, and a safety education room, providing convenience for staff and citizens, which is expected to greatly contribute to delivering high-quality fire services.
Going forward, the Uichang Fire Station will be responsible for the safety of approximately 97,000 households and 214,000 citizens in Uichang-gu, while Jinhae-gu will be under the jurisdiction of the Changwon Fire Headquarters, Seongsan-gu under Seongsan Fire Station, and Masanhappo-gu and Hoewon-gu under Masan Fire Station.
