Holding Six Survival Swimming Classes from September 5 to Enhance Water Disaster Response Skills
Teaching Various Swimming Techniques like Ipsae Tteugi and Sculling... Including CPR Practice
Online Registration Starts from August 28, Free for All Residents Aged 18 and Over
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is conducting 'Water Safety Survival Swimming' education to protect lives in underwater emergency situations.
Survival swimming is a swimming method that allows one to endure in the water with minimal energy until rescuers arrive. The district has established swimming classes to enhance residents' response capabilities to water disasters and to save lives.
During the training, professional instructors teach various swimming techniques. Participants can learn essential strokes such as 'Ipsae Tteugi' (floating on water like a leaf while breathing deeply) and 'Sculling' (propelling the body by rowing with both arms). Additionally, proper life jacket wearing methods and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) are taught together.
The classes will be held six times in total from the 5th of this month to October 17th. Sessions take place every Tuesday from 10 a.m. for 80 minutes at an indoor swimming pool (Chance Eye) located in Jayang-dong. Participants only need to bring personal items such as swimsuits, goggles, and hats, and the course is free of charge.
Eligible participants are residents aged 18 and over, with 20 people accepted per session on a first-come, first-served basis. Those interested can apply online through the district website from the 28th of this month to September 1st.
