Seoul City Launches Full-Scale Regulation on Single-Use Products... Briefing Session on the 29th
On-site Promotion and Guidance from September to October
Starting November 24, the list of regulated single-use items will be expanded, and the Seoul Metropolitan Government will conduct advance publicity and administrative guidance targeting related industries such as food service businesses and large-scale stores.
Seoul announced on the 24th that, ahead of the end of the guidance period, it will hold an explanatory session at 3 p.m. on the 29th in the multipurpose hall on the 8th floor of Seoul City Hall’s main building for district office staff, workers in related industries, and the general public to help them understand the single-use item regulations and prevent confusion during implementation.
Co-hosted with the Ministry of Environment, this explanatory session will provide industry workers with practical preparation for the single-use item regulations, which will be fully enforced in November, through case-centered system guidance and Q&A. Seoul’s projects to reduce single-use items, such as the promotion of reusable cups, will also be introduced.
Along with the explanatory session, from October 11 to October 25, teams will be formed with 25 district offices and the Hangang River Basin Environmental Office to conduct on-site inspections targeting collective catering facilities, food service businesses, large-scale stores, and sports facilities. Special focus will be placed on inspecting single-use paper cups, plastic straws, and umbrella vinyl covers, which are included in the expanded list of regulated items.
From November 24, business owners (store owners) using single-use items, including those in the expanded list of regulated items, will be subject to fines of up to 3 million KRW.
