Korea Anti-Corruption Commission: "Former KBS Chairman Nam Young-jin Confirmed to Violate the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act... Referred to Prosecutors and Korea Communications Commission"
The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC), which investigated potential violations of the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act related to Nam Young-jin, former chairman of KBS, confirmed violations of relevant laws and decided to refer the case to the Supreme Prosecutors' Office and the Korea Communications Commission.

On the morning of the 22nd, Jeong Seung-yoon, Vice Chairman of the ACRC, held a briefing at the Government Seoul Office in Jongno-gu, Seoul, and announced the investigation results regarding the report of Nam’s alleged violations of the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act.
The ACRC revealed that it confirmed approximately 35 instances involving about 7.2 million KRW worth of prohibited money or goods exceeding the 30,000 KRW limit for food and beverages provided to public officials and journalists, which may constitute violations of the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act. Additionally, it confirmed about 22 instances involving approximately 6 million KRW of improper use of business promotion expenses for acquaintances in violation of budget and accounting laws or KBS internal regulations. Furthermore, an additional investigation will be conducted on a total of 41 suspicious cases involving about 6 million KRW related to other suspected split payments.
Vice Chairman Jeong stated, "The ACRC subcommittee resolved yesterday to refer matters requiring investigation to the investigative agency, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, and matters requiring investigation and administrative sanctions to the supervisory agency, the Korea Communications Commission. We plan to send all related materials to the Supreme Prosecutors' Office and the Korea Communications Commission within today."

The ACRC began its investigation after receiving a report on Nam’s alleged violations of the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act on the 13th of last month. The ACRC analyzed and cross-checked business promotion expense usage details submitted by KBS and materials submitted by related companies, and conducted about a month of investigation including hearing statements from related parties and witnesses.
