Park Jie-won: "Both Pro-Lee 'Plan B' and Non-Lee 'Resignation Theory' Are the Worst Strategies"
Former National Intelligence Service Director Park Jie-won raised his voice, emphasizing that the Democratic Party should unite around Lee Jae-myung, the party leader, in response to various rumors circulating within the party regarding Lee's future, such as a 'Plan B.' He criticized these discussions as "the worst possible strategy, simply dancing to the prosecution's divisive tactics."
On August 22, Park wrote on his social media account, "The current Democratic Party is plagued by a lack of strategy, with so-called pro-Lee aides mentioning Plan B, rumors of stepping down in December, nominations and leading the general election from prison, and calls from the non-Lee faction for the party leader to resign immediately upon an arrest warrant request. These are all a jumble of uncoordinated claims."
He was referring to the fact that as Lee Jae-myung's legal risks have resurfaced, the pro-Lee faction has begun discussing a 'Plan B' in case Lee is detained, while the non-Lee faction has started calling for his resignation.
Park stated, "Even if we are put in a difficult position, we must stand tall before history and the people, and the promises made by the party leader must be kept. The Democratic Party that the people and party members want is the DJ Democratic Party, which was known for communication, unity, and coordination-values that both pro-Lee and non-Lee factions frequently mention."

He went on to say, "Why are we borrowing trouble from the future by preemptively talking about arrest warrants, detention, resignation, or Plan B? The Democratic Party must not become divided, as the Yoon Suk-yeol administration hopes. We should not surrender the fate of the Democratic Party to the prosecution by worrying in advance."
