An agreement to support the revitalization of the construction industry in Ulsan is being promoted. Since it is a joint agreement involving eight organizations and groups, including Ulsan City and representatives of industrial complexes, it is expected to be highly effective.
Ulsan City announced on the 22nd at 10:30 a.m. that it will sign the "Ulsan Regional Construction Industry Revitalization Business Agreement" in the situation room on the 7th floor of the city hall main building.
This agreement was prepared in response to a proposal from the Ulsan branch of the Korea Mechanical Equipment Construction Association to involve more local construction companies in large-scale factory expansion projects such as the S-OIL Shahin Project, SK Gas combined heat and power plant, and maintenance work for the national industrial complex.
The agreement involves a total of eight organizations, including Ulsan City, the Ulsan branch of the Korea Mechanical Equipment Construction Association, the Ulsan Factory Managers' Council, and the factory managers' councils of Ulsan Petrochemical, Onsan Complex, Yeocheon Complex, Yongyeon Yongjam Complex, and foreign-invested companies.
The main contents include △ expanding the participation rate of local construction companies in new and expansion construction projects of member factories of the Factory Managers' Council and maintenance work for the national industrial complex △ actively encouraging employees residing outside the area of newly established factories to relocate to Ulsan △ prioritizing the use of locally produced materials and equipment and the employment of local labor.
An official from Ulsan City said, "Through this business agreement, if the participation rate of local companies in maintenance work for factories in the national industrial complex increases from 59% to 80%, it is expected to greatly contribute to the revitalization of the local construction industry, with an increase of 181.4 billion KRW in orders for local companies and the creation of 1,423 jobs."
Ulsan City established and has been implementing the "2023 Regional Construction Industry Revitalization Plan," which includes 20 detailed action tasks in four areas, since January.
