'Line 2 Rampage' 50s Arrested... Rambling Before Warrant Hearing
A man in his 50s who wielded a small tool on Seoul Subway Line 2, injuring two passengers, is now facing detention.
On the morning of the 21st, Judge Song Kyung-ho, in charge of warrants at the Seoul Western District Court, conducted a pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant hearing) for Mr. A, who is accused of aggravated assault. The decision on whether to detain Mr. A is expected to be announced later that afternoon.
Around 10 a.m. that day, Mr. A appeared in front of the court for the warrant hearing. When reporters asked if he admitted to the charges, he retorted, "What am I supposed to admit?" When asked if he had anything to say to the victims, he responded evasively, "I cannot tolerate the police's illegal actions."
Mr. A is accused of swinging a small multi-purpose tool (mini multi-tool) inside Seoul Subway Line 2, heading from Hongdaeipgu Station toward Hapjeong Station, around 12:40 p.m. on the 19th, injuring two male passengers.

During the police investigation, Mr. A stated, "I was attacked by several people on the subway and assaulted them in self-defense." It was confirmed that Mr. A has a history of schizophrenia and has not received treatment since 2019.
