A Person with Intellectual Disability Chased with a Weapon After Being Teased by Middle School Students
A person with an intellectual disability who carried a weapon and wandered the streets after being teased by middle school students was apprehended by the police.
The Gwangsan Police Station in Gwangju announced on the 18th that they have booked A (in their 40s) on charges of special intimidation.
A is suspected of threatening middle school students with a weapon around 5:10 p.m. the previous day near a mart in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.
According to the investigation, A, who has a level 2 intellectual disability, was provoked by two middle school students at a bus stop near the mart on the day of the incident. In response, A took a weapon from the mart and committed the act.
The police responded to a report from middle school students saying, "There is a person chasing us with a knife," and arrested A at the scene in the act.
During the police investigation, the middle school students stated that "We did not tease A. It seems there was a misunderstanding due to gestures made during our conversation."
