LG Electronics Unveils European-Style 'Smart Cottage' Featuring Energy Technologies at IFA
Compact Modular Housing Combining Space, Appliances, and Services
LG Electronics will participate in IFA 2023, Europe’s largest home appliance exhibition held in Berlin, Germany, starting next month on the 1st, showcasing the sustainable living solution 'LG Smart Cottage,' which integrates high-efficiency energy technologies.
Smart Cottage is a small modular house in the form of a second house that combines LG Electronics’ energy and HVAC technologies with premium home appliances. After unveiling the Smart Cottage prototype last March, LG Electronics displayed the product at 'LUX Square' in Jincheon-gun, Chungbuk, presenting a new residential space concept that fuses space, appliances, and services.
The Smart Cottage showcased at IFA features an interior layout modified to suit European market preferences. With a walnut wood tone concept and a bright beige exterior finish, it completes a warm atmosphere with premium interior design.

In Europe, where demand for energy saving is increasing, Smart Cottage is gaining attention as a building that produces part of the energy used at home by itself. The 4-kilowatt (kW) solar panels on the roof of the LG Electronics Smart Cottage supply a significant amount of electricity equivalent to what two adults use in a day.
LG Electronics installed the heat pump HVAC system 'Therma V Monobloc' in the Smart Cottage to reduce energy consumption and implemented a home energy solution that stores leftover electricity in a home ESS system. The exterior of the Smart Cottage also includes a charger for electric vehicles (EVs).
Inside the Smart Cottage, premium appliances that enhance energy efficiency are included, such as the Objet Collection Wash Tower Compact, dishwasher, induction electric range, and water purifier.
At IFA 2023, LG Electronics will offer a customer experience tour where consumers can explore a home energy platform, an eco-friendly residential form, by viewing various energy monitoring content connected through the Internet of Things (IoT). Consumers can check appliances, HVAC systems, energy storage, and consumption through the LG ThinQ application.
