District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho Participated to Commemorate the Historical Significance of Liberation Day and the Spirit of Sacrifice of the Forefathers
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) and the Korean Freedom Federation Gwangjin-gu Branch (Chairman Lee Young-jin) held a Taegeukgi flag raising campaign to mark the 78th anniversary of Liberation Day.
This event was promoted to foster a voluntary culture of raising the Taegeukgi flag in celebration of Liberation Day, one of Korea’s major national holidays. Through raising the Taegeukgi, the historical significance of liberation is recalled, and the noble sacrifices of the forefathers are honored.
Accordingly, on the 14th, a day before Liberation Day, District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho and the Korean Freedom Federation visited Jayang Intersection. Under the Gwangjin-gu branch’s supervision, a campaign booth was operated with 30 members participating, distributing 280 home-use Taegeukgi flag sets and educating on the proper flag raising methods.
Furthermore, prior to the main event, a national ceremony and a moment of silent tribute were held. It was a moment to pay respect to the patriotic martyrs and war heroes who dedicated themselves to independence and to inspire patriotism. Additionally, District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho personally demonstrated how to assemble the Taegeukgi, encouraging many to participate.

District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said, “Raising the Taegeukgi on Liberation Day is a very meaningful act to celebrate the restoration of national sovereignty and to honor the noble sacrifices of our forefathers.” He added, “I thank the Gwangjin-gu branch for their efforts in carrying out this campaign, and I hope that all of us will raise the Taegeukgi with a heart full of love for our country.”
