Four Members of Minju No Chong Arrested While Trying to Hang a Banner on the Statue of King Sejong in Gwanghwamun
Four members of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) were detained by the police while attempting to hang a banner on the statue of King Sejong at Gwanghwamun Square in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
At around 1 p.m. on the 12th, four KCTU members, including Vice Chairman Kim Eun-hyung, were performing a demonstration to stop Japan's discharge of radioactive contaminated water into the ocean in front of the King Sejong statue. They were arrested on the spot on charges including violation of the Assembly and Demonstration Act after climbing onto the statue to hang a banner.
