Number of Deaths Likely to Increase as Full-Scale Search Inside Building Begins
The death toll from the ongoing wildfires in Hawaii has risen to 67. According to major foreign media on the 11th (local time), the Maui County authorities in Hawaii, where the wildfires occurred, announced that the death toll has increased to 67. The previous count was 55. As the search inside buildings is being actively conducted, the number of additional casualties is expected to rise.
The wildfire first broke out on the 8th in the Kula area of central Maui Island. Subsequently, additional wildfires occurred in Lahaina and other areas, resulting in dozens of deaths. There are about 1,000 missing persons and more than 11,000 displaced people.
