View original imageGyeonggi Province raised the emergency response level of the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters from Level 1 to Level 3 at 9 PM on the 9th in response to the northward approach of Typhoon "Khanun," the 6th typhoon of the season. This Level 3 escalation is the second time this year, following the heavy rain that caused significant damage in the metropolitan area on July 13.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, on the 10th, a preliminary typhoon warning will be issued for 14 southern cities and counties including Suwon in the morning, and for 17 cities and counties including Paju in the afternoon, indicating concerns about heavy rain and strong winds under the influence of Typhoon "Khanun." The typhoon is expected to affect the metropolitan area until the 11th.
With the Level 3 escalation, Oh Byeong-kwon, the first deputy governor of Gyeonggi Province, will take overall charge of the Gyeonggi Province Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters.
