Songpa-gu Enters Preparedness Mode for Typhoon 'Khanun'
On the 8th, a practical countermeasure meeting was held to fully prepare... Ensuring residents' safety
Focus on operating flood prevention facilities, inspecting road structures for overturning, and prompt resident guidance
Songpa-gu (District Mayor Seo Gang-seok) is making thorough preparations such as inspecting road facilities and strengthening surveillance of high-risk areas in anticipation of the northward approach of Typhoon No. 6 'Khanun'.
As this typhoon is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds, the district held a practical department countermeasure meeting in the small conference room of the district office on the afternoon of the 8th and entered a full preparedness posture.
The metropolitan area is forecasted to come under the typhoon's influence around the 10th.
Accordingly, the district is focusing on ▲facility inspections ▲preemptive surveillance of high-risk areas ▲prompt resident guidance to prepare.
In preparation for the typhoon, Mayor Seo Gang-seok proactively checked the operation status of the Yukgapmun installed at the Pungnap Fortress Interchange and the Sincheon rainwater pumping station on the 26th and 27th of last month. The district maintains the operation of about 7,200 flood prevention facilities including six rainwater pumping stations and retention basins within the area, and has secured 943 small pumps to be deployed immediately if necessary.
Underground passages and areas near rivers with high flood risk will be urgently inspected, and immediate action will be taken if any signs of danger are detected. Control of entry and exit to 66 riverside walking trails, dissemination of situation updates, and on-site dispatch will be implemented. Additionally, 33,000 rainwater inlets, which are a major cause of urban flooding, will be inspected on-site to remove accumulated trash and debris.
In particular, inspections of road facilities to prepare for strong winds will focus on preventing overturning accidents. After completing preemptive safety inspections and pruning of hazardous trees along 16 routes including Jamsil-ro at the end of July, the district continues these efforts.
Moreover, measures such as securing shade structures, traffic signs, and construction site barriers are taken to prevent overturning accidents, and efforts are made to remove the recently increased number of illegal banners to avoid resident inconvenience.
Furthermore, the district uses its website, SNS, and other channels to provide concentrated typhoon information and promptly deliver risk information such as traffic control due to road flooding and river overflow to prevent safety accidents.
