Socar announced on the 4th that it will start car-sharing services on Ulleungdo Island. Socar has installed a Socar Station near Sadong Port passenger ferry terminal on Ulleungdo and will also operate a shuttle service.
Following Jeju and Gangneung, Socar is establishing its third large-scale Socar Zone, the Socar Station, on Ulleungdo to actively attract tourists. Sadong Port, where the Socar Station is located, operates large passenger ferries that are less affected by weather, and the soon-to-open Ulleung Airport is nearby, providing excellent accessibility.
A total of about 80 vehicles will be initially deployed at Socar Station Ulleung. Considering Ulleungdo’s narrow roads, mountainous terrain, and diverse tourism demands such as car camping and camping, all vehicles are SUVs including the Kona, Seltos, Tucson, and Sportage. In the future, Socar plans to launch package products that combine cruises, accommodations, and leisure activities in collaboration with local businesses based on customer usage data. Socar expects tourists to experience various activities along Ulleungdo’s 43 km-long circular road.
