Hana Tour Surpasses 110,000 Package Tour Customers in July... 19% Increase Compared to Previous Month
Chuseok Holiday Advance Reservation Rate Surpasses Summer Peak Season Bookings
Hana Tour announced on the 2nd that the number of package tour customers in July, the first summer peak season after the endemic (periodic outbreak of infectious diseases), increased by 19% compared to the previous month, reaching approximately 112,000 people.
This figure represents a 24% increase compared to the average monthly number in the second quarter of this year, and the number of package tour customers has been steadily increasing every month. Hana Tour also stated that the number of package tour customers in August and September, which include summer vacations and the Chuseok holiday, is expected to surpass that of July.
By region, Southeast Asia accounted for the largest share at 42.4%, followed by Japan (28.8%), Europe (11.7%), China (9.4%), the South Pacific (5.1%), and the Americas (2.5%). By age group, those in their 50s (26%), 40s (20%), and 60s (18%) were the most prominent, with the 50s showing a 5 percentage point increase, the 60s a 4 percentage point increase, and the 40s a 3 percentage point increase compared to the same period last year.
Looking at advance reservations based on departures from September 27 to 30, which includes the Chuseok holiday, there was about a 20% increase compared to the average daily reservations at the end of July, surpassing summer peak season bookings.
In the July summer vacation, popular destinations were Japan (25.8%), Vietnam (20.7%), and China (9.5%), but in September, preferences shifted to Vietnam (21%), Japan (21%), and Europe (12%). Hana Tour explained that this is analyzed as a result of increased interest in relatively long-distance travel to Europe due to the Chuseok holiday and the bridging holidays.

A Hana Tour official said, "With the first summer peak season after the transition to the COVID-19 endemic, overseas travel demand exploded, and the number of package tour customers in July surpassed the 100,000 mark recorded in February this year." He added, "Interest in Europe, where long-distance travel is possible, has been high for the Chuseok holiday, which had a high advance reservation rate from the beginning of this year, so we are preparing by arranging charter flights to Croatia and other destinations."
