The county, which was the first nationwide to expand support eligibility to include elderly residents with mobility difficulties regardless of income, selected 333 recipients for electric mobility assistance devices by the end of July.
From January to July, the county organized this education session targeting elderly individuals with mobility difficulties who received electric mobility devices, aiming to raise awareness about accident prevention and safety while operating the devices.
Under the guidance of professional instructors from the Jeonbuk Transportation Culture Training Institute, the education focused on practical, everyday examples covering the operation and maintenance of electric mobility devices, road traffic safety regulations, and how to respond in case of accidents.
For recipients living far from the training location, such as those in Bokheung-myeon and Ssangchi-myeon, separate sessions will be held later. The county plans to do its utmost to ensure that all recipients complete the training and that not a single accident occurs.
Mr. Kim, an elderly participant in the session, said, "I was very grateful not only for the support of the electric mobility device, which I needed but could not afford because of the high cost, but also for the education. I will use the device only in designated areas and drive carefully, paying attention to both sides, as I learned in the training."
County Governor Choi Young-il stated, "Through this education, I hope the elderly who received electric mobility devices will accurately understand traffic safety rules and enjoy a healthier and happier old age by operating the devices safely. We will continue to develop various welfare projects that elderly residents can truly feel and benefit from."
