Diagnosis of the Cause of Rebar Omission in LH Apartments
"It Should Be Seen as Human Error Rather Than Construction Skill"
Professor Choi Myung-gi of the Korea Industrial Field Professors Group diagnosed the background of the LH apartment incident, where rebar omission was confirmed, in an interview with 'SBS Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show' on the 1st.
Professor Choi pointed out, "(Construction) it seems necessary to view this more as a human error rather than a lack of skill," adding, "Who would omit rebar these days? It seems there was such a complacent perception."

In particular, Professor Choi pointed out problems in the management methods of construction companies.
He said, "There are many managers in construction companies who are literally managers rather than technicians. As a result, in the process of operating the site, more emphasis is placed on cost reduction and profit pursuit," he explained.
Professor Choi claimed, "The interest cartel is currently very solid and firmly established."
He added, "In the process of going with the lowest price concept, it eventually leads to subcontracting, and subcontracting is not just once but continues step by step. This basic process is the interest cartel," and said, "Unless the interest cartel is broken, an environment where poor-quality construction like this continues to occur will inevitably be created."

Professor Choi stated, "If a construction company performs poor-quality construction, there should be a signal that the company could go bankrupt because of it," and said, "Construction companies need to be made aware that if they win bids at low construction costs and perform poor-quality construction, the losses can be tens or hundreds of times greater than the profit."
