Ottogi Launches 'Ma Yeol Ramyeon' with Added Garlic and Pepper to Yeol Ramyeon
‘Maneulhuchu Block’ Post-Addition Cooking Realizes Deep Flavor and Aroma of Garlic and Pepper
Ottogi announced on the 1st that it will launch ‘Ma-Yeol Ramen,’ a spicy ramen with added garlic and pepper, to its representative spicy ramen Yeol Ramen in August.
Launched in 1996, Yeol Ramen has established itself as a steady seller by securing a loyal fan base with its cleanly spicy broth and chewy noodles. Recently, as preference for spicy ramen has increased mainly among younger consumers, sales of Yeol Ramen have been steadily rising. In particular, since the spread of the ‘Sundubu Yeol Ramen’ recipe in 2020, the number of ‘modishumers’ who add various ingredients to Yeol Ramen has increased, and sales (based on packet noodles) tripled over three years from 2019 to 2022.
Ottogi focused on the high proportion of garlic and pepper as added ingredients in Yeol Ramen and developed a new concept called ‘Ma-Yeol Ramen.’ It is explained that the product implements a familiar yet attractive new spicy flavor by adding pungent garlic and sharp pepper to the clean spicy taste characteristic of Yeol Ramen. The new product contains a freeze-dried ‘Garlic Pepper Block’ made from garlic grown in Daejeong-eup, Seogwipo-si, Jeju, and coarse-grained pepper, developed to bring out the unique characteristics of garlic, pepper, and chili separately.
The newly introduced ‘Ma-Yeol Ramen’ packet noodles will be sold through online and offline distribution channels starting from the 16th, and the cup noodles will be available from September.

Ottogi said, “Considering consumers’ tastes who enjoy various spicy flavors, we developed ‘Ma-Yeol Ramen,’ which contains three spicy flavors of garlic, pepper, and chili, and are preparing to launch it in August. It will captivate consumers’ palates with a different spiciness from the existing Yeol Ramen.”
