30% of Samsung TVs Sold Are 85-Inch... 'GeoGeoIkSeon' Trend Spreads
Change in Purchase Share from 75-inch to 85-inch Models
Samsung Electronics announced on the 1st that one out of every three TVs sold domestically this year was an extra-large TV of 85 inches (214cm) or larger.
Among the Samsung Neo QLED and QLED TVs sold from January to July this year, one out of every three was either 85 inches or 98 inches (247cm). The company explained that this reflects the rapid spread of the 'GeoGeoIkSeon' trend, which favors larger screens.
The 85-inch size accounted for 30% of sales by size (based on 55 (138cm), 65 (163cm), 75 (189cm), 85, and 98 inches), an increase of 1.8 times compared to last year, showing that it has established itself as a popular TV size. Last year, the 75-inch size held the largest share at 32%.
The 98-inch models are also increasingly chosen by consumers. In July, when Samsung Electronics launched the 98-inch Neo QLED 8K and established a large 98-inch lineup ranging from 8K to Neo QLED and QLED, sales of 98-inch products increased about sevenfold compared to the same period last year.
To meet this demand, Samsung Electronics is conducting the 'Samsung TV, Dae(han) TV' promotion targeting large-screen TV products. Ahead of various sports festivals such as domestic and international professional sports leagues and major national sports events, the company is focusing on selling large TVs that enhance immersion.

This event will be held at nationwide online and offline stores from the 1st to September 30th. It offers various benefits to consumers wishing to replace their large TVs, including the newly released QLED lineup.
Consumers who purchase the new QC75 model through Naver New Product Week from the 7th to the 13th and the live commerce event on the 8th will receive a Samsung soundbar (C400) and a six-month premium subscription to TVING.
During the entire event period, all consumers who purchase eligible products will receive up to 2 million points. Offline stores will offer the 65-inch QLED (65QC60) at a special limited price.
Hwang Tae-hwan, Vice President and Head of Samsung Electronics Korea, said, "We prepared this event to allow customers to purchase new products with greater benefits during a period when demand for TV replacement is increasing for immersive sports viewing," adding, "With Samsung TVs featuring extra-large screens and enhanced picture quality technology, you will be able to enjoy games vividly at home as if you were at the actual stadium."
