‘Domestic Products Marked with Two Lines’, Test Kits Deployed… Ulsan City Conducts Intensive Investigation of Illegal Activities During Vacation Season
Special Judicial Police, Unreported Business and Origin Labeling at Summer Resorts
"Foreign pork shows one line, domestic pork shows two lines." The pork origin identification kit is making an impact.
Ulsan City launched an intensive investigation and crackdown on illegal activities around summer vacation spots throughout August.
The targets include general restaurants, rest food establishments, lodging businesses, and food sales outlets at popular vacation spots such as Ilsan and Jinha Beaches, Gangdong and Jujeon Beaches, and Jakcheonjeong and Baenaegol Valleys.
The main focus of the investigation is on unreported business operations in food and public hygiene establishments, storage, use, and sale of unlicensed or unreported products, violations of food labeling standards, and violations of agricultural and marine product origin labeling.
In particular, for domestic pork, whose demand surges during the vacation season, the origin diagnosis kit will be used on-site to immediately verify whether the product is imported, aiming to block the illegal distribution of livestock products.
An official from Ulsan City's Special Judicial Police stated, "We plan to eliminate factors that threaten safety so that citizens can enjoy a comfortable summer vacation," and added that a zero-tolerance policy will be applied to illegal activities with strict punishment.
