First Meeting of the Ulsan Bioindustry Promotion Committee
Deliberation on Strategies and Plans for Revitalizing the Bio Industry
Ulsan City will hold the first meeting of the ‘Bioindustry Promotion Committee’.
The meeting, chaired by Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs An Hyo-dae, will take place at 2:30 PM on the 1st in the International Conference Room on the 4th floor of the City Hall main building. Thirteen members of the Bioindustry Promotion Committee will attend to finalize the bioindustry revitalization strategy announced on June 8 and discuss this year’s progress and plans.
Deputy Mayor An Hyo-dae said, "To revitalize the life sciences industry, multifaceted support such as infrastructure development, research and development support, and training of specialized personnel is necessary. We plan to gather experts from various fields to collect opinions and reflect the voices from the industry on Ulsan’s bioindustry promotion policies.”
In January, Ulsan City held a briefing session in Seoul COEX to attract bio companies, successfully bringing in three companies to Ulsan: Kick the Hurdle Co., Ltd., DeepHelix, and DNA Corporation.
In June, about 70 participants from bio companies and related research institutions attended to present the achievements of the Genome Special Zone project, Ulsan’s bioindustry revitalization strategy, and the Ulsan Bioindustry Promotion and Support Ordinance.
On June 27, over 100 stakeholders from the bio-chemical industry gathered at Lotte Hotel for the Ulsan Bio-Chemical Industry Forum under the theme of the future of sustainable chemical industry. Additional company attraction briefings and bio-chemical industry forums are scheduled for the second half of the year.
The Bioindustry Promotion Committee was established with 15 members, chaired by the Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs, according to the ‘Ulsan City Bioindustry Promotion and Support Ordinance’ enacted on May 18 this year.

The Promotion Committee deliberates and resolves matters related to Ulsan’s comprehensive bioindustry plan and implementation plan, projects, facilities, and promotion of research and development.
