Mapo-gu Conducts Waste Characterization Inspection of Volume-Based Waste Bags... Full Effort to Reduce Waste
Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) conducted a waste characterization inspection of volume-based waste bags on the morning of the 31st at the Mapo-gu cleaning vehicle depot located on Gayang-daero.
The characterization inspection was carried out to analyze how much recyclable material is contained in the collected standardized volume-based bags and to investigate the actual state of mixed disposal, such as food waste.
On this day, about 20 district employees including Mayor Park Gang-su, the Director of the Urban Environment Bureau, and the Head of the Resource Circulation Division, along with 10 environmental officers, participated to inspect a total of four 5-ton household waste collection trucks operated by a subcontractor.

Mayor Park Gang-su personally observed the inspection process and stated, “Not producing waste that must be buried or incinerated is the beginning of environmental protection,” adding, “Through waste characterization analysis, we will measure the amount of waste that can be reduced by proper separation and disposal, and actively utilize this data to develop policies that can reduce waste generation.”
