"Kill 20 Men"... Repeated Murder Threats in Sillim-dong
A murder threat post stating the intention to kill 20 men in Sillim-dong, Gwanak-gu, Seoul, was uploaded on an online community, prompting the police to launch an investigation. It appears that murder threats have been repeatedly occurring following a recent stabbing incident in Sillim-dong.
On the 24th, citizens visited a memorial space set up in the shopping alley near Sillim Station in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, to pay tribute to Mr. A, a man in his 20s who died in a stabbing incident.

The Gwanak Police Station in Seoul announced on the 31st that they are tracking the author of a post on an online community stating, "I will kill 20 men at Sillim Station on Monday." The post was reportedly uploaded around 12:40 PM the previous day. The post has since been deleted.
According to the police, there have been a total of six posts threatening murder on online communities. On the 24th, a man in his 20s, Lee Mo, who posted "I will kill 20 Korean women on Wednesday" on an online community, was arrested on charges of intimidation. It is known that Lee actually purchased a weapon over 30 cm in length online but later canceled the order. On the 25th, another post appeared on an online community with photos around Sillim Station stating, "I plan to rape and murder women in the evening," and the police are tracking the author of that post as well.

To prevent recurrence of similar incidents, the police plan to deploy maximum personnel including local police and neighborhood watch groups to strengthen patrols and stationing in crime-vulnerable areas. Additionally, they will respond promptly to related reports by dispatching officers to the scene and cooperate with the closed-circuit television (CCTV) control center to track suspects and apprehend the individuals involved.
