A resolution rally was held at Busan North Port to pledge the successful construction of the Opera House and to wish for Busan's hosting of the 2030 World Expo.
HJ Heavy Industries (Construction Division CEO Hong Mun-gi) held an ‘All Employees Innovation Meeting’ on the morning of the 28th at the Busan North Port Opera House construction site, declaring their determination to devote all their capabilities to the completion of the project.
At the innovation meeting attended by about 200 employees, all HJ Heavy Industries staff vowed to focus on the Opera House construction and to pool the company’s full capabilities to complete a landmark building for Busan and a representative architectural work of the Republic of Korea.

View original imageAt this event, HJ Heavy Industries presented an innovation plan to successfully advance the previously stalled Opera House construction and transform the company into a beloved local enterprise for the citizens of Busan.
The plan emphasized restoring trust through intensive personnel renewal and reestablishing the management system, strengthening quality, environment, and safety and health management through expanded ESG management, prioritizing public and social values, and fulfilling corporate citizenship roles and public contributions.
First, HJ Heavy Industries decided to expand responsible management by all related executives and employees, including the CEO, for safety management alongside the intensive personnel renewal initiated at this innovation meeting.
They also announced plans to conduct a large-scale internal audit of all construction sites in the Busan area and to recruit external personnel to reinforce innovation intentions such as public interest, fairness, and balance, thereby reorganizing the management system.
The company stated that, as the contractor, it will take strong responsibility and immediately conduct quality and precise safety inspections through credible external organizations to ensure perfection in quality. Furthermore, they expressed a bold commitment to fully reconstruct any parts found problematic through comprehensive site inspections.
HJ Heavy Industries set a goal to return to basics by strengthening ESG management in quality, environment, and safety and health, with the CEO personally inspecting quality and ensuring thorough management to construct high-quality buildings.
At the same time, they aim to strengthen safety management and safety and health management to achieve the company-wide goal of ‘Zero Major Accidents.’ Ultimately, as a leading Busan company, they pledged to actively participate in Busan’s ‘Green Smart City’ construction through communication and collaboration with the Busan city government, local communities, and stakeholders.
They also plan to prioritize public and social values and take the lead in corporate citizenship roles and public contributions. As a representative construction company for local culture and arts, including the Opera House, Busan Cinema Center, Busan Museum of Art, and Film Experience Museum, they will pursue perfect construction and expand support for cultural sharing events and joint participation in local events to revitalize culture and arts.
HJ Heavy Industries emphasized that all employees will dedicate their efforts to securing the 2030 World Expo, the biggest issue in the Busan region.
They also promised to contribute to economic revitalization through stable employment and job creation in the Busan area by passionately fulfilling their core mission of ship orders, as well as to promote co-growth with partner companies and contribute to the local community.
