First, to create a safe route to and from school, the Office of Education will expand the elementary school safety notification service, which allows parents to check whether their children have left or arrived at school, from currently 1st grade students to 3rd grade students next year. Key features of the service include emergency calls, real-time GPS location tracking, and safe zone setting functions.
Additionally, in cooperation with related organizations such as education support offices, schools, local governments, and police stations, the traffic environment on school routes will be inspected and potential hazards improved. In particular, to effectively respond to issues related to traffic safety and child protection on school routes, practical consultations will be held with bodies such as the Gyeonggi Southern and Northern Autonomous Police Committees.
Furthermore, schools where vehicle and student pathways overlap will separate pedestrian and vehicle entrances and exits, and improve safety facilities by installing raised crosswalks and lane markings.
Other initiatives include ▲supporting the installation of convex mirrors and high-resolution CCTVs in blind spots such as school corridors, roadways, and parking lots ▲operating a KakaoTalk channel for prompt consultation on school safety accidents ▲and expanding support for school safety guardians.
Students, parents, and staff members will naturally develop a sense of ownership as safety stakeholders within the educational community and work to improve safety awareness through direct participation.
