Yoo Young-chul, Former Director, Appointed as Gyeonggi-do's First Open Health and Wellness Bureau Chief
Yoo Young-cheol, former Director of the Gyeonggi-do Health and Wellness Bureau, has been appointed as the first open-position Director of the Health and Wellness Bureau in Gyeonggi-do.
Gyeonggi-do announced that Governor Kim Dong-yeon presented the appointment letter to Yoo Young-cheol at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government multipurpose conference room on the 26th, prior to the scheduled open government meeting, during the open-term public official appointment ceremony.
Yoo Young-cheol, an expert in Gyeonggi-do health policy, began his career in 1993 as a local medical officer at Goyang City Health Center, served as Director of Gunpo City Health Center in 2005, Head of the Gyeonggi-do Health Policy Division in 2009, and has been Director of the Health and Wellness Bureau since 2019. Notably, during the COVID-19 pandemic, he played a significant role in proactive responses such as operating a one-stop treatment center and establishing the nation’s first home treatment system. Yoo retired honorably on June 30 and applied through the open recruitment process.

Director Yoo expressed his aspirations, stating, "I will leverage my over 30 years of experience working in health centers and Gyeonggi-do health and medical departments, as well as my capabilities as a physician, to listen to residents’ opinions and collaborate with experts to realize a healthier Gyeonggi-do."
