Visang Education Develops AI for Korean Language Learning Exclusively for Foreigners View original image

Visang Education announced on the 25th that it is developing a ‘Hyper-large AI Conversation System for Foreigners Learning Korean’ using generative artificial intelligence (AI), enabling foreigners to practice speaking and writing through Korean conversations and chats anytime and anywhere.

In June, Visang Education was selected as the lead organization for the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Research and Development (R&D) Innovation Voucher Support Project announced by the Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP), and recently signed the final contract. To differentiate from other AIs, Visang Education plans to develop an AI specialized in Korean language education by intensively training it with Visang Korean textbooks, past test questions from the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK), and various Korean language education data.

The ‘Hyper-large AI Conversation System for Foreigners Learning Korean’ is an AI solution that understands the Korean pronunciation of foreigners from different nationalities, responds according to the learner’s level, and helps improve Korean conversational skills. It also features a chat function with the AI, allowing users to naturally enhance their speaking and writing abilities.

The AI conversation system under development will be unveiled as a prototype early next year after a one-year joint research and development period with the software development company ‘E2U’. Visang Education plans to integrate this system into the Korean integrated education platform ‘masterk’, and the Korean language services ‘masterTOPIK’ and ‘masterKorean’ websites. Starting in March next year, the system will be installed on masterk, which is being distributed to elementary, middle, and high schools in Vietnam, applying it first in the Vietnamese public education field. Kim Kwangsoo, CEO of E2U, who is in charge of joint research and development, said, “We will utilize hyper-large AI like ChatGPT to implement sophisticated responses tailored to learners’ levels and situations. We will develop it with scalability so that it can be linked not only with Visang Education’s platform but also with various educational institutions.”

No Jungil, CEO of Visang Education’s GEO Core Group, said, “Recently, the heads of state of Korea and Vietnam promised to revitalize Korean language education in Vietnam. We plan to start in Vietnamese middle and high schools and work to establish the Korean language education platform in public education fields worldwide.”
