Sang-ik Lee, Hampyeong County Governor, Inspects Disaster-Vulnerable and Flood-Damaged Areas
Urging Full Efforts for Damage Recovery and Prevention
Since the 23rd, heavy rain has poured down in Hampyeong-gun, and Lee Sang-ik, the mayor of Hampyeong-gun, has conducted on-site inspections by visiting areas at risk of landslides and flood damage.
According to the county on the 24th, record-breaking heavy rain fell with a maximum of 136mm in Sonbul-myeon on the 23rd and a maximum of 191mm in Eomda-myeon as of 8 a.m. on the 24th, with an average of 204mm of rain over two days across the county.
On the 24th, Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok and Hampyeong County Mayor Lee Sang-ik are inspecting the heavy rain damage sites.

Kim Young-rok, governor of Jeollanam-do, and Lee Sang-ik, mayor of Hampyeong-gun, visited the flood damage sites in Yeoncheon Village, Wolam-ri, Singwang-myeon, a landslide-prone area, and Wongomak Village, Hakgyo-myeon, adjacent to a tributary of the Yeongsan River.
They visited the sites.
The county has operated a 24-hour Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters in preparation for this heavy rain and held meetings to check the response to rain damage and emergency recovery situations.
Residents of 18 households and 25 people in areas at risk of river flooding and landslides were evacuated in advance, and National Road No. 1 Eomda underpass and County Road No. 5 sections in Gomak-ri and Seokjeong-ri, Hakgyo-myeon, have been completely closed due to flooding.
In addition, the county plans to devote all efforts to securing residents' safety by designating dedicated officials for surveillance and inspection activities in landslide-prone areas and conducting special inspections of sewer facilities.

Mayor Lee Sang-ik said, "We will prioritize the lives and safety of our residents under any circumstances," and added, "We will concentrate all administrative power to prepare for future heavy rain and to quickly restore the damaged areas."
